Flan the Easy Way!
So I have been trying to make FLAN for months now because it is my husbands favorite dessert besides cheesecake. He is from Mexico so I have had people give me recipes upon recipes not all the same but I couldn't get it to come out right especial mold and hold. I have tried all the ways in round cake pans (it would boil over) to using the store bought aluminum baking stuff which would still boil over. Also I couldn't seem to get the right consistency of the ingredients more eggs less eggs not enough vanilla to way to much vanilla.
So one day I was on Amazon shopping which I am pretty much doing all the time and I came across Perfect Flan Maker and I looked through the reviews and ordered it immediately. It came in the mail 2 days later and with its own set of recipes for making Flan.
So I made my first Flan for my husband because his approval stamp was needed and guess what it was a complete success! After that I took it to my bunko group that I meet with once a month and lets just say there was no flan left at dessert time and they all complemented me and started asking me to make one for there social events to take with them. So now with a lot of people telling me how yummy it is I think its time to share just how easy it is to make Flan. SO here is step by step pictures for you all. I hope you enjoy this Flan!
Here are the ingredients needed.
• 3 Eggs
• 1 cup of sugar
• 1 (12 oz) can evaporated milk
• 1 (14 oz.) can sweetened condensed milk
• 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
• Pre Heat Oven to 350 degrees F. (175 degrees C)
Before you started mixing your ingredients make sure you have pre heated your oven.
Now pull out a small pan and put your 1 cup of sugar in the pan on medium high heat.
Also get your Perfect Flan Maker ready by putting it either in a glass baking pan or in a large cake pan.
(I know that you can use the Perfect Flan Maker to heat the sugar but honestly I wouldn't recommend it because I think it would wear and tear quickly and even though it's not a super expensive buy I would rather have it for a longer period of time then have to buy it over again.)
When mixing your sugar and it starts to look like this start getting your other ingredients ready for mixing.
Mixing the sugar will take about 10 mins so try and keep a very close eye on it so it doesn't burn.
While the sugar is heating up start getting your other ingredients ready to be mixed.
So in a Standing mixer, hand mixer or a blender combined 1 can evaporated milk, 1 can of sweetened condensed milk, 3 eggs and 1 tablespoon of vanilla extract. Mix or blend on high speed for 2 -5 mins depending on wether or not you mixing or blending.
Once it looks like this it is ready to go.
Once your sugar has completely liquefied and looks golden in color turn off your burner and place it in your Perfect Flan Maker.
How it should look in the flan maker.
Pour your mixed Flan ingredients on top of the sugar toping
Pour Hot Water into the outer pan to reach halfway up the sides of the Flan maker.
Make sure to put the top on securely.
Put it into the oven for 45 mins. to 1 hour.
Remember every oven is different start at 45 mins if a tooth pick doesn't come out clean go for an hour.
My Flan checked it with a tooth pick looks good and ready to be removed from my glass baking dish.
You can uncover it or keep it cover at room temperature for about an hour or so to let it cool down.
Once you are ready to transfer it to another dish first take a butter knife and go around the edges of the flan so it doesn't stick. Put a plate or whatever your using to transfer it on top of the flan maker.
And Flip it over.
Put in the refrigerator for 4 hours or over night and the you have a
Finished product! A delicious Flan to have at home or take to parties.
I usually have to take a spoon to get more of the syrup for on top of the flan.
Also your Perfect Flan Maker is easy to clean nothing like hot water and soap to do the job because you will have sugar syrup stuck on it.
I hope that this works for you guys and well as it did for me. I will do my next Flan which is Coconut Flan it is OMG to die for.
Live, Love and Laughter Always,
Allisa
